I don't call my parents by their names on a regular basis, so I don't think it would be that weird. However, I could never date a guy who had my brother's name. To me, that would be weird.

I think it depends on the rarity of the name. If it's Philomena, I'd say no. Your one association would be with your mom. If it's Becky, there are plenty of other associations with that name that would dilute the connection to your mom.

Just don't call her "mommy" and it should be all good. Advice about getting involved with somebody you work with should be considered. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but it complicates things.

My mom's name is Jacinta.
