That's my question. Maybe it suddenly becomes illegal if it's in the presence of illegal drugs or something?

D'onta should do one of those DNA/ID mixup things with his twin.

While the UCW statute specifically states that a defendant may carry their weapon on their own premises or motor vehicle, one element of the crime commonly triggers a UCW charge when the individual is in their vehicle… that being the commission of a crime other than a Class C misdemeanor. According to Texas law, carrying a weapon while “engaged in criminal activity, other than a Class C misdemeanor” will result in a Class A misdemeanor UCW charge. This includes the relatively common crimes of Possession of Marijuana (or any controlled substance) and Driving While Intoxicated, both of which are greater than Class C misdemeanors. So, if you possess a firearm in your vehicle and you’re arrested for possession of any drug or DWI, you will likely forfeit that firearm and pick up the Class A Unlawful Carrying a Weapon charge. The UCW charge is also automatically triggered if the defendant is a member of a street gang or otherwise prohibited from possessing a firearm.

As others have said, it sounds like he didn't do anything wrong personally.

However, I feel like this is that moment that a lot of these athletes have when you have to evaluate who you are hanging out with, and what that person is doing.

Why is everyone taking the guy's attorney's word as gospel?

Pretty harsh law.

Say I am on my way on a hunting trip with my legally owned shotgun. I get pulled over for a speeding ticket and the cop sees a half-burned joint in the ashtray.

So now I would be arrested for Driving under the influence of a controlled substance, drug possession, and a felony gun charge? Holy smokes- don't mess with Texas folks. :shake:

I can't imagine that an attorney would lie.

You're projecting your own feelings towards black people here.

Lucky he wasn't shot for it... I thought that was the going rate.
