I saw at one time you could purchase the knives individually. If you could pick up a chef's knife and a paring knife, that'd be a great place to start.

Thanks. I really only use my two chef's knives, so that will work fine.

really? I love my 4 stars. I need to sharpen them again, but they've been great knives for over 10 years.

Yep. They simply don't keep an edge. I'm not really surprised though. I think I paid $300 or so for a whole block a few years ago.
