We need a bat. 7 million 1 year is better than trading pieces away for one. This would be a huge upgrade, and since he's a catcher and most teams DH aren't absolutely god awful, I doubt too many teams would go after him.

He's a lefty batting .286, with a .805 OPS and 112 wRC+ & he's on the final year of his contract.

Might be worth it.

He threw his pitcher under the bus. Won't happen with gmdm. Plus he hasn't thrown out a runner in 31 straight attempts.

Fanning also unexcited about Soler cause he thinks he's one of the dumbest baseball players he's seen

We're not getting him to be our catcher, we're getting him to be our DH.

This is what being sent down with no options looks like. Retroactive to June 26, eligible to return July 6.

I think Cuthbert might object to being put on the DL with a fake injury
He might not mind being DFA
right now he's stuck on a team without a spot for him

Yep. Gordon has literally never been a fast baserunner. It's why I couldn't get mad at the play last night at 1st. His defense created a misconception about his speed a long time ago, when actually he's carried by (like you said) impeccable reaction time and route running. I am sure his groin injury didn't help anything, but it's not like he was ever fast in the first place.

I never thought he was fast but I never thought of him as slow either
those statcast numbers have him being barely faster than Salvy--not the ranking, the actual speed
that doesn't seem possible

By what Dayton Moore said it sounds like we ain't selling and we're gonna try and re sign all of our core guys

Minnesota series is looking like this:
Friday: Vargas
Saturday Day: ???- With Young gone, I have no idea who they would be thinking for this. May have to utilize the 26th man for a starter.
Saturday Night: Hammel
Sunday: Strahm

I think we can get 2, not sure all 3 nor do I think it's in our best interest to do so.

The two I would want to resign is Hos and Moose however the cheapest would prob be Cain and Moose

I think would have to shake themselves out a bit. You may have a log jam with some of the young guys like Starling, Boni, Cuthbert, and Soler. After Gordon's issues Cain worries me the most given he will be 32 next season. I still think Moose has the most value of the 3 to us.

"...we'll have the opportunity to compete to bring a lot of our players back..."
GMs are pretty good at being vague
he can't come out and make people overly optimistic and he can't come out and say that they probably wont be able to afford them
He's playing it down the middle as he probably should
