I guess it depends on if you believe in history or not. I guess it depends on if you think Tom Brady and QBs like that happen all the time. They don't happen very often. I see that trend continuing to happen.

You have no idea if there is a good one either.

That's fine, but I disagree and the odds are in my favor. You may end up being correct though.

I believe that if you looked at the past numbers of QBs and success even mediocre success. These guys and where they were drafted with such a need for QBs and then to have QB gurus Bruce Arians, Andy Reid and others pass on these players over and over.

Right now, no one knows what will happen with the QBs. Judging by what most teams did in the draft, they feel there isn't a special QB available. This might even be one of those years where the best QB was taken late or not at all. Heck, I give Matt Scott must about as much chance to hit as Geno Smith.

Are you saying even if the QB that becomes a good starter was a late pick or undrafted , the Chiefs are stupid for not taking that QB 1.1? If so that's dumb.

Let's look at it like this.

Do you think in 3 years there will be a QB from this class that you would trade Eric Fisher for?

Wow.

It's a much better attempt to win a SB than trading a 1st for AS and than hoping someday a QB falls to you in the draft.

Carl Peterson gave up a 1st for a guy that took us to the AFC title game and a 1st for a guy that QB'd one of the elite offenses in the NFL for 3-4 years. Dorsey gave up a 1st for a guy with 3-300 yard passing games in 80 career games.

The addressing of the QB position has been horrible.

We are giving up a 2cd and a 3rd at best for Alex not 2 2cds unless we go deep in the playoffs and Smith has an amazing year. The way lots of people on here talk they must think Alex Smith is going to have a great year since everyone is already giving up that 2cd instead of the 3rd for the play that Alex is probably going to provide.

Can this thread be moved to a Jets forum...?

No. I'm saying given the current QB situation they are dumb for at least not throwing a dart at it. They could have had their pick of every QB except Geno and EJ in the 3rd twice and passed. If EJ or Geno hit than they are dumb for not taking them #1, of if any of the 4th round crop hits than they are dumb for not taking them in the 3rd or 4th. We have MAJOR question marks at the QB position.

The 2nd pick in the 2nd round and a 3rd next year = a late 1st.

Correct, but that's why they are paid millions of dollars a year. To get it right, so I don't want to hear "Well QB A wasn't projected to go that high or do that well" as an excuse if one of these QB's become good.

tooge 05-02-2013 08:32 AM

agreed, so lets stop talking about this years QB class until a couple of years go by. We could look back at the dirty Sanchez draft and quite a few people would look like morons.

So with your ifs in there you are already trying to use hindsight about what might happen with these players.
That has nothing to do with the moment you are making the decision.
If you are more worried about a mistake then you won't make a correct decision.

I agree, unless of the rooks ends up looking like Wilson or RG3 than it's open game.

You believe this because you hate Alex Smith. I think he will be better than Geno or Manuel, or Barkley, at least in the short term, maybe always.

At the first pick in round two, I feel there was no QB that will be better than Alex Smith.

You want a team with major question marks at QB. The New York Jets.

By that notion a GM couldn't say well that player was projected to be that good and go that high when that player fails.
