I echo whoever earlier was talking up the abilities of Prince. Performer but mostly to me an incredible guitarist (maybe one of the best) and great song writer.

Wow, I don't remember CP eulogy threads for a lot of these people?

It's going to be a sad day in music and the world in general when Paul McCartney goes.

Uh, that would be me, you know, the guy you said who is clueless? And his guitar playing is not what I would rank as his strong talent and not one of the best guitarists, though he is good at playing the guitar.

I was pretty clear on the things I said you were clueless about. And objectivity I was right. Your Prince post I had no qualms with.

Mr_Tomahawk 02-10-2013 10:13 PM

what is this?

NewChief 02-10-2013 10:14 PM

How can you guys hate on fun.? Sure they're a one hit wonder, but they've managed to convince people that the one hit is 3 different songs. That takes talent.

They are gaining popularity. They'll be hated like nickelback by this time next year.

They already are in most critical circles. I just read an article from a music site I read titled "In Defense of Mumford and Sons" which was basically a defense of them from all the critical backlash.

Nickleback has some decent songs, as long as they aren't performing them.

I like Adele and glad she's the darling of music today, but I still think her best was Chasing Pavements (before the acclaim).

NewChief 02-10-2013 10:22 PM

My main problem with M&S is that we have a perfectly good American group in the Avett Brothers who do the same thing, better. But it takes some Brits to regurgitate Americana in order for it to find popular appeal. It's like the Brit invasion all over again.

Nickleback is one of my dirty little secrets. I love them and I would guess most people that have seen them live would say they put on a great show. It's cool to say "Nickleback sucks", but I still think they rock.

She's gonna choke on a ham sandwich like Mama Cass if she don't watch it.
