AK or SKS? Which would you guys recommend?

AK's are a blast to shoot. You can pay a little or a lot for them. My best friend has an SKS, and his particular model takes stripper clips (instead of a magazine) which sucks shit. Of course, my best friend is notoriously cheap.

Personally I have an entry-level AR that I paid about $700 for (DMPS Panther Oracle). Very accurate, fun as hell to shoot. Bud's has a deal on them right now.

Fun day at the range. The Veridian is awesome - pretty straight forward - point and shoot. Hole goes where the green dot is.

But I must say, I LOVE my new Ruger. Love it. Ran a couple of hundred rounds through it this afternoon. Very accurate, fun to shoot, light recoil. Magazines easy to load (actually easier to load manually than with the loader thing that came with it). The $10 rubber slip-on grip I added took care of all the grip issues - feels great in my hand. Trigger does have a bit of play, but once I got used to it it was no big deal. Easy to stage shots. Breaks down quickly and easily.

For $300 (price at Buds and what I paid locally), you can't go wrong with this bad boy, IMO. :thumb:

How difficult was the Veridian to set up? Did you notice any drift after putting a few rounds through the pistol?

The last pistol I had with a laser was one of the first gen red lasers hard mounted on a Glock 23 (pre rail days). I could get it dialed in and within half a magazine it was off...way off. I'm thinking about trying the laser route on my home gun if the newer lasers are worth the money.

Well, let's put it this way - I was able to do it myself with no problems. :D I am not exactly mechanically inclined.

And I didn't notice any drift at all. It is very securely mounted. Best part about the one I got would have to be the strobe feature. That will definitely ruin anybody's shit that you point it at.

Been trying to talk my S.O. to get one with our income tax, she thinks we need a couch instead.

If you order one from CDNN, you get a free Sig 522 with it. Would be perfect for your fiance. Just saying. :)

Looks like you're SOL, at least from Buds. They're out of them.

However, I got mine at the local Cabella's for $700.

I'm finding a bunch on buds, but no clue if that's even close to what you're talking about.

I'm just talking about my particular model. I can't imagine there's much difference between it and the others. About two months ago they were selling Oracles for around $600. Which kind of annoyed me.

At least their last memory would be of a blinding light, instead of a fat guy in his underwear pulling a trigger.
