How did you slay the beast?

I'm good. Memory serves that we play again twice next year.

I will give you this though. Week 16 was designed to entice you into a gameplan that if you were successful enough you would repeat. I changed to adapt that gameplan and the results speak for themselves.

Oh, and you can add my other major offseason acquisition, Devin McCourty, to the list of chokers.

Alex Smith going HAM from the opening the snap and he is absolutely nowhere to be found.

I changed my gameplan, too. It wasn't nearly as conservative.

The annoying thing is...even if I had gone more aggressive (say 55-45) to counter what was surely a run-down blitz-heavy attack...Brady probably would have just been ripped to shreds anyway.

He absolutely SUCKS against Anchorage. EVERY TIME. Unless I hide him. Like he's Matt Cassel or something.

JJ and Von came up big in this game. That goal line stand was all Watt - the batted pass for sure and the sack on 4th down.

I think it looks like a little Alex D. Karma all up in here.

Well Anchorage, I feel like we've been here before.

Come at me, bro...

This time I get to play the revenge card.

I'm the Sandbox 90s Chiefs.

29-3 in the regular season, 0-2 in the playoffs. At home.

My QB is even a choke artist.

Well he is hand chosen by the gods, so it makes sense.

Even watching film, there can be honest disagreements in the NFL who the best guard is during a given season. If you asked 10 different NFL GMs to rank the best 20 guards, you'll get 10 different answers, some widely different. You get tiers of players and that is about as good as you will be able to define things, and even then there is disagreement. Then there is week to week variation. In Sandbox you will never be provided with a list of all the starting guards ranked 1-48. You won't see ratings for strength, speed, agility. You'll know player x made 3 key blocks in the run game, got beat 2, allowed 1 sack and 2 pressures, etc. All of those numbers are context specific, depending on opponents, formations, the RB, the QB, and stochastic variation. There is always fog.

Okay - that I agree with. The bold is really want I'm looking for.

Because you can set every GM and scout in the league in a room, have them watch a player for an entire game and 'score' each play and you're probably going to get and 80% overlap.

I'm not looking for a ranking by any means. What I'd like to see is exactly what you have planned - a 'film study'. I'll decide what to do with that information from there.

Additionally, I'd still love to see the sims broken into halves. It gives us that much more variability and gameplay experience. It also allows some in-game tinkering that wouldn't necessarily blow a season for you.

Are you playing not to lose?

Hammock Parties 08-15-2013 08:40 PM

The sad, ironic truth of this is that I have absolutely ZERO patience for the real Alex Smith now.

If he isn't as badass as Sandbox Alex Smith, I'm going to be thinking evil thoughts all season long.

These simulations are twisting my football allegiances.

I think these are good ideas. Halftime adjustments are really becoming a neccessity so teams aren't locked into a gameplan all game long that is an obvious disaster.

When the game's over, I'm positive the coaches will meet at the 50 and shake hands.

I think there's a lot of mutual respect between these squads.

Good luck and may the best man win. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to the pound to get some more kittens. I hope they have a few more of those fluffy little tabbies. Aaron really liked those white feet.
