I really wanted to like Burn After Reading, I think my expectations were too high.

I thought Twilight blew, really liked Sarah Marshall, and thought Iron Man was good despite the commercialism of it.

In Bruges had the best dialog of any movie I have seen over the last 10 years (Wes Anderson movies excluded).

Watch Burn After Reading again. I think it's a lot like The Big Lebowski. It gets better with subsequent viewings.

What's so good about Burn After Reading?

I haven't had any desire to see that movie.

MILK is outstanding. I thought that was a very well-made film, and an incredible performance from Sean Penn. Watched Yes Man last night. It was OK.

Milk definitely worth watching. Changling was ho-hum and too long. I haven't seen Yes Man.

Milk is a very solid film. Sean Penn, though, is impossibly, crazy-good in it. He's fantastic.

You can watch the documentary on Harvey Milk on hulu.com. From the previews, it sounds like Penn kinda puts the stereotypical gay lisp on, when in reality, Milk sounded like a regular adult male. The documentary is really good.

I didn't think that Penn sounded like some gay archetype or anything.

I'm not saying it was ridiculously over the top, but Penn definitely tweaked his style to fit more of the gay impression people have. They are like really feminine girls, basically. But Milk wasn't like that at all. At least not from what I got from the documentary.

That's not a critique of his acting ability either. I might see the movie on campus on the 18th - they are having a showing somewhere.

Okay, I saw Milk. Reaper, I change my mind on what I said earlier.

I actually enjoyed Seven Pounds, but I enjoy doomed characters, whether it's The Machinist or even the hamartia of Tin Cup.

I would have if it wasn't so manipulative with people. Will Smith was good in it but easy to call and manipulative = disaster for me.

Where do you think it veered from narrative to didactic manipulation?

I rented the new Day The Earth Stood Still last night.

Ugh. What a piece of shit. Lame story, lame ending. Sort of reminded me of Deep Impact, in that they showcased EVERY cool CGI scene in the commercials so there was nothing else in the film itself that surprised. And while I generally don't dog on Keanu Reeves just to do it, he was awful in this movie. Like Arnold in the second Conan movie awful. AND WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO JENNIFER CONNELLY'S BOOBS? Did she get them surgically removed or something? Oh, the humanity.

Thank God it only cost me $4, but I'll miss the brain cells that died. :grr:
