IN has been down for the count for quite some time, but I do believe they're back. they used to be great.....and now will be a 1 seed. not too shabby.

A one seed is a good start, but it isn't much of an accomplishment in its own right. I'm not ready to declare Gonzaga as anything special because they look to have a one seed locked up. Both Indiana and Gonzaga are having very good seasons thus far. Conference championships are something to be proud of. Neither will mean a thing if they don't at least grab a FF berth.

Pablo 03-11-2013 12:48 PM

And Indiana may very well be "back". Only time will tell. They've been on an upward trend the last couple of seasons. Just not ready to declare a program has risen from the dead over one regular season.

frankotank 03-11-2013 01:01 PM

IN certainly suffered some major setbacks with the Sampson fiasco.
be interesting to see if they keep up the good work.

I didn't put any qualifiers on Indiana's win. It was impressive, like many of their other road wins this year. But Michigan choked that game away completely in the final 40 seconds.

10 year mark is when Bill Self arrived. 10 year mark is the point at which KU became the best program in the country.

The last 10 years certainly belong to you. Enjoy them, you have earned them. But tonight we will be talking about seeds in 2013, of which Indiana's current situation will carry much more weight with the NCAA officials than KU's last decade.
Nobody can say right now whether Indiana is "back." We'll see what the next few years bring. What I can say definitively is that KU isn't going anywhere.

ABSOLUTELY GAVE IT AWAY!
starting with GR3 missing a point blank layup.
seriously, they missed at LEAST 4 free throws (2 on the front end of 1 & 1's) and at LEAST 3 LAYUPS that woulda put that game away.

and NOW they fall to a 5 seed in the B1G tourney...and here's where I just have to laugh. we split with Ohio and MI St but only played Wisconsin once....and lost. so the head to head tie breaker goes to WI and MI falls to 5. no bye for us. so now we get Penn St Thursday who already beat us and will only go to the dance if the win this tournament. awesome. IF MI gets past that.....they get Wisconsin.
DAMN YOU TO HELL Wisconsin BORED-gers.

MI just has no luck.

Pablo 03-11-2013 07:15 PM

St. Mary's v. Gonzaga is off to a good start. Great pace from both teams. Hope St. Mary's can keep the intensity up; don't want to watch a blow-out.

Pablo 03-11-2013 07:23 PM

Zags really can't afford to have Olynyk on the bench. He really makes that team work.

Pablo 03-11-2013 07:24 PM

St. Mary's guard might have just blown his knee out.

Pablo 03-11-2013 07:25 PM

Yeaaaah, he's gonna be done for the game at least. Barely putting weight on it.

Pablo 03-11-2013 07:41 PM

Nobody is watching basketball tonight?

C'mon guys. It's lonely in here. Flip the game on. There's a one seed playing.

Pablo 03-11-2013 07:43 PM

Uh-oh.

Zags got hot and went on a little run.

31-21 with four left in the first.

Pablo 03-11-2013 07:46 PM

Olynyk draws the weakest fouls.

LMAO

Maybe it's just the flowing hair making every light touch look like a mugging.

KC_Connection 03-11-2013 07:56 PM

I'm always watching. Gonzaga is playing very well in this one. St. Mary's still hasn't figured out what to do when Dellavedova gets doubled, they don't have a clue.

Yeah, they're doing everything right.

I hope they can figure that out in the second. This could easily be a 20 point win if they don't.

KC_Connection 03-11-2013 08:23 PM

They still have no answer for Olynyk. And Dellavadova is a complete non-factor.

Dellavadova is one of the best ball handlers in the NCAA. He's been completely neutralized in a way that I haven't seen all year. St. Mary's looks like a chicken with its head cut off.

Pablo 03-11-2013 08:32 PM

And they let the longhair bash one.

Zags up 53-34. Time to shut this off.

I've watched some of them and it's unfortunate that the don't actually show video of the plays, just pics.

I didn't remember the Tyus Edney play the way it was narrated (I actually laughed when he said "6' 9" Derrick Grimm rose to meet him"...NO HE DIDN'T! he stood there and let him shoot) so I went and found it.

Richmond's up by 3 points with 6 seconds left so they foul to prevent a 3-point shot.

Charlotte makes the front-end of the 1and1 meanwhile a Richmond player shoves a Charlotte player while going for the rebound which is ruled a technical foul, so Charlotte gets TWO MORE free-throws on top of the one they had remaining.

They make all those to go up by one as well as getting the ball out-of-bounds because of the Technical.

Charlotte in-bounds the ball and Richmond fouls, but the Charlotte players instantly threw up the ball b/c there were only 3 secs left and the refs ruled it in the act of shooting which made the Richmond coach blow up receiving two more technicals.

Charlotte wins by 5. Charlotte had 11 free-throws in the last 6 seconds lol.

Saw it earlier, but it went something like this:
Charlotte down three with 4.7 left, Richmond foul, on teh FT attempt, another pushing foul + technical foul called on Richmond, now Charlotte up one and teh ball with 2.8, Charlotte player chucks it up from half court and a shooting foul is called for 3 shots, Richmond coach gets T'd up twice. Charlotte shot 11 FTs in 5 seconds.

Ceej 03-14-2013 03:58 PM

I see someone within the university of Charlotte paid off the refs.

That's brutal.

It was the worst of officiating, officials that don't know the rules AND have a very thin skin. They know how bad they screwed up, and I agree with Digger Phelps, those clowns shouldn't be allowed to officiate in the tournament.

Why is the tournament starting later this year????

The past few years we've been able to watch the NCAA tourney during St. Patrick's day weekend.

Last year we were treated to Lehigh upsetting Duke, Norfolk State upsetting Mizzou, Ohio upsetting Michigan, and two each of the usual #11 and #12 seed upsets.

All three Memphis-Southern Miss games were like this, just with the big Memphis run coming earlier and making it seem less frantic, physical, and flat-out absurd than they actually were for people who didn't watch. I saw someone say we "beat the crap out of" USM the first two times, which couldn't be farther from the truth. They were three of my favorite games all season.

I kept muttering "I love that team" a lot today, and I wasn't just talking about Memphis. USM's gonna get hosed because their resume is mediocre, but they're talented and extremely tough, so hopefully the committee rewards them on that despite the stigma and the rest of C-USA being hot garbage this year.
