Seriously, it goes both ways. Pot shots come from both the KU & MU fans.

There isn't an MU version of trololololickedson.

Saul Good was headed that direction and nearly got there, but he seems to righted the ship a bit.

Just a matter of "point of view" really.

This doesn't really count as breaking news, because they'd be criminally negligent if this weren't the case, but we're starved for news, so here ya go.

Notre Dame has 'contingency plans' if it leaves Big East

Quote:

Notre Dame basketball coach Mike Brey said the Fighting Irish's objective is to remain in the Big East, but admitted the school has "contingency plans" if it needs to join another conference.

...

There is the very real possibility if the Big 12 decides to expand to 12 schools, the Big East could lose two more members -- "big names," Brey said -- either to the Big 12 or to the ACC.

"I'll say this: if it doesn't work out [in the Big East], everybody's got a spot for us [in another league]," Brey said. "I hope we keep our spot here and keep moving forward and massaging that. But whatever happens, we're going to land on our feet. I guarantee that."

If ND comes with FSU, and if the Big 12 doesn't want to go with 11 for 2 years and needs to take in Clemson too, then Louisville just might back into the Big 12.

The Big 12 might be leery about taking more than 2 from the ACC, they'd still be at 12 and still have their ACC CCG so might be easier to defend from lawsuits. Plus, ND would pretty much have to wait for football until 2015, and only Louisville would have a reason to wait (27 months to avoid fine) and be willing to wait.

Having Notre Dame in everything but football is a losing formula.

There probably is no other option. Their NBC contract doesn't expire until 2015, and their 2013 and 2014 schedules are all booked up. They'd get their ass sued off for cancelling 16 games on that short of notice.

Besides, if you have it on paper "we will join for football in 2015", and they sign a GOR that takes effect starting in 2015, why wouldn't that be good enough?

I don't see the Big 12 taking ND for "all except football". ND can go fend for themselves if that's how they want it. Obviously they are an enormous brand but I would enjoy life just fine if they weren't in my conference.

Exactly why the Big 12 would never do that.

They can go **** themselves if that's what they want.

You can like it or not like it if it makes you feel better. You can't cancel 16 OOC games for 2013 and 2014. They also have 2015 booked up, but at least those teams still have time to scramble for a replacement.
