ANd more importantly, why was he getting the carmelo anthony treatment.....in OUR house, no less!!!???

Well...that was interesting.

I can't find it anywhere to provide a link but I heard parts of Bill Self's press conference this morning on 610. He was asked about the CBS in game interview. Yes, Wickedson, that interview was done during the game (about a quarter of the way into the 2nd half). CBS was trying to bring something new to their broadcast. He basically said that Greg Anthony and Clark Kellogg bought him dinner with the stipulation that he'd do the in game interview. He said Stan Dunphy had already agreed so he didn't want to look bad. Said he was willing to try it. But it looks like that would be the last time because Self didn't sound too pleased with it.

I'd be furious. Particularly in that game when the players need a dose of Self's Boot.

I found Self's comments.

Quote:

In-game interviews: In a strange twist, CBS’ sideline reporter interviewed KU coach Self during a second-half timeout Sunday. Temple’s Fran Dunphy was interviewed during a first-half timeout.
“I think that’s probably enough in-game discussion we’ll have with interviewers,” Self said on “Hawk Talk.” Obviously, he’d prefer meeting with his team during entire timeouts and not spending time with reporters.

“It’s something they are experimenting with. I think we are the first group they have done it with. They got Fran to do it. Naturally, I’m the bad guy if I don’t. I did it. I feel we’ve done what they asked now we can get back to being snobbish and doing everything on our own,” Self added, jokingly.

On FSN Midwest.

DALLAS (AP) -- Pat Swilling Jr. hit a 3-pointer with 3.8 seconds left to give Danny Manning and Tulsa a 48-47 victory over Larry Brown and SMU in just the second coaching matchup of an NCAA-winning coach and the Final Four's most outstanding player.

The shot by Swilling Jr., son of former NFL linebacker Pat Swilling, thwarted a huge second-half comeback from SMU. The Mustangs (10-6) trailed 34-17 at halftime before outscoring the Hurricane 29-8 for a 46-42 lead. SMU held Tulsa to just 23.1% shooting in the second half.

Tulsa (9-6) pulled within a point on a 3-pointer by Scottie Haralson, and Swilling Jr. hit the winning shot after SMU fouled twice with the Hurricane trying to get loose for an open look.

Manning, the eighth-leading scorer in NCAA history, was the star on Kansas' 1988 national championship team. Brown is the only coach to win NCAA and NBA titles.

The game was the Conference USA opener for both teams.
