I would think the very last shot of the season would be Stoneheart. Brienne and Pod were obviously now looking for the brotherhood to find information about Arya so I"m sure they'll get captured and taken to her, then the last scene will be Brienne looking in shock at her and then we either get a cliffhanger to what she looks like, or they show her face and that's the OMG cliffhanger moment for the people who are in the dark.

If I were doing it, I think I would have the big moment with Tyrion and Tywin, and then roll credits, and where you normally do scenes from the next episode, instead you do an epilogue of Lady Stoneheart just like the book. I agree that it would work well for Brienne and Pod to be the ones who see her, but if they do, you are getting pretty far into book 4 already at that point. Should be interesting to see how they play it!

It has to end the season, they nearly always do something supernatural to mark the end of a year (dragons or others). I wouldn't do it post-credits, though, because you risk people not seeing it. It's not like an episode during the season where they might be watching/fast-forward to see a preview for next week.

I just hope rather than simply telling the story next season, they show us flashbacks of the Brotherhood pulling her from the water and Berric breathing his life into her.

Not to mention Nymeria pulling her from the river.

Man, I love watching with my wife. She hasn't read the books so it's awesome to see her range of emotions during the biggest scenes. She's really on the verge of shitting herself thinking that Tyrion gets the axe. When The Viper buys she's going to blow a gasket.

That's really going to suck because I'm enjoying his character on the TV show.

Someone please spoil me this... does the final episode of season 3 reveal who's torturing Theon Greyjoy?

If not, go ahead and spill it for me, I'll rep you up... I don't wanna wait until this season comes out on dvd, whenever that might be.

From Wikipedia.

Yara Greyjoy begins a new military campaign to recapture Theon, who has been penectomized at Dreadfort by Lord Bolton's bastard son Ramsay Snow, who begs for death in light of Snow's continued torture.
Season 3...last episode.

The Dying Merchant scene last night was lifted almost straight from Becket's Waiting for Godot, down to having a famous Becket actor play the merchant. I love geeky shit like that:

Quote:

BARRY MCGOVERN! They gave him lines almost right out of the play —

"Where else to sit"
"Who were they?" "I stopped asking a while ago."
"Bad way to go. Haven't you had enough?" "Of what? I know. Time to go."
"So why go on?" "Habit."
"Nothing could be worse than this." "Maybe nothing is worse than this."
"Nothing isn't better or worse than anything. Nothing is just nothing."
"You give me. I give you. Fair. A balance. No balance anymore."

Nobody does Beckett on stage like McGovern — he's one of the finest interpreters of Beckett's work today, possibly ever. He's also a lovely person. I went through the same program at Trinity that Benioff and Weiss did, and got to meet McGovern once after a performance (our teachers were connected; we went to a lot of performances, met a lot of people who wrote, taught or performed works of Irish literature).

The link is a bit confusing (I thought the lines were directly taken from the play at first), but definitely an homage. Here's a decent comparison of the lines from the play and the concepts from the show:
