What's funny is that if you go out to some of the draft-related, non-team-affiliated forums (ie. NFLDC) and read what they're saying on the QB subject, you'll find the SAME DISCUSSION as here, even though 90% of those guys aren't Chiefs fans.
It's pretty interesting to read. |

NFL.com player rankings updated. If anybody still thinks Geno is out of the question at #1 overall, they're kidding themselves.

I wonder what made them drop Geno from a 93 to a 91...?

Or banana peels. on a side note;; when I was probably 12, my brother told me if I smoked granulated tea, or coffee, I'd get high (he was kidding of course). about three weeks later, I remember this while at a friends house. so we decided to try it. didn't have rolling papers, so we used notebook paper. LMAO good god. |

These are their pre-combine rankings. The closer we get to the draft, the closer we get to Geno going #1 overall. |
For comparison's sake:
Ryan Tannehill was an 87 in a class with Luck (97) and RG3 (95). He went 8th. Sam Bradford was also an 87 and he went #1 overall. Cam Newton was an EIGHTY ONE. |

So this is after he went to Florida an got called out on twitter by geno? After he went to Florida I thought e changed his tune on geno?

Geno Smith is the most overrated quarterback I’ve seen in a long time. He’s not that good. If he didn’t throw for 600 and some yards and eight touchdowns against Baylor toward the beginning of the season, he wouldn’t have the hype he’s got right now. He’s talented but I went to watch him work out a couple of weeks ago down in Florida and he was airmailing the ball over a wide receiver who was just standing there. He wasn’t even running a route. Gee, maybe the WR was supposed to be running a #@^$* route? Not a good workout if the WR just stands there. He wouldn't even need a WR for that, just another guy playing catch lol |

It's like the dude ran over his dog or something. |
Has geno actually gotten any hype anywhere outside of here? How is he overhyped?

Maybe that is overhyping? LMAO |

Eric Branch@Eric_Branch
Trent Dilfer on how he knows #Chiefs coach Andy Reid likes his friend, Alex Smith: “There was a courtship last year, to a certain degree.” -------------------- Been a lot of chatter on Twitter today about the relationship between Alex Smith and the Walrus. More and more people saying that Reid can "fix" Alex Smith. Getting nervous...we may have Smith as our QB next season, but it won't be Geno. |
If Alex Smith and Tyler Wilson split QB duties it would be a guarantee Super Bowl for the Chiefs next year.

They expect one of us in the wreckage brother. |

are we really going to do this....again? Clark? |
So going by the logic used here when weinke said good things about geno, of course dilfer is going to say that about his friend. He wants him to be a starter somewhere next year.

Everyone knows the chiefs and jags are both terrible franchises. Quit pretending.
Lets get back to Geno and how he will be the Jags savior because we are too stupid to draft him. |
Can we please get another 49'er reject? they've worked out so well in the past.

I'd rather get a less risky QB like Tyler Wilson. |
we have Albert and a 3rd round pick invested at LT...
in today's NFL, if you told me we could get 10 years of a PRIME Willie Roaf at LT + Alex Smith OR take the #1 rated QB on the board (Geno Smith) and perhaps have our franchise QB... I'm taking Geno 10 times out of 10. Back in the Bradford era when #1 picks got $60M guaranteed....? Maybe I'd take the Roaf. |
in other words
Albert is FINE, our line is ABOVE AVERAGE (if you ask me)...our defense has 4 or 5 pro bowl caliber players... DRAFT A ****ING QB YOU ****ING COCKSUCKING FRANCHISE anyone who thinks we should take anything other than a QB at #1 is a dumbass |

Dilfer is friends with Alex Smith. Everything he says is candy-coated. Therefore, using him as a source it useless. |

"He's awesome." "He sucks!" "He's awesome." "He sucks!" The thing about it though is that most of them aren't even Chiefs fans, so it's interesting. |
When the NFL season ended I went to a bunch of different forums for teams with top 10 picks and the general fan consensus was that Smith isn't anything special. Nothing like the hype on this board.

Good for you Mr. Contrarian

you know what bothers me?
This press I'm seeing about Harbaugh claiming a few years back that not only was Kaepernick the #1 QB on his board...but the best player in the draft!!!!! If he thought this...why did he wait until #34 to draft him? Why not take him where they took Alex Smith? I hope Dorsey doesn't think he can wait like that for Geno or his #1 QB. |

I imagine that's what a bunch of fans do. |

well it was his dad who said it and the quote was when he asked them who they were going to take on day 2 and Jim didn't even want to tell his own dad...
I remember REALLY wanting Colin Kaepernick after reading up about him on this board...too bad. |
Quote:
That's just silly. |
I agree. I found it pretty far fetched as well. But hey, he certainly does appear to be the best football player from that class. Remarkable. Cam who?

I was listening to Colin Cowherd tell a story about Marcellus Wiley on the radio yesterday on my drive to work and he was asking him how he came out of Compton, California and go to an Ivy league school despite all of his "friends" getting caught up in drugs and gang activity etc...and he told Colin it was because he had a strong dad.
RGIII seems like he has a strong father. Colin Kaepernick certainly adores his two parent household. Kind of wish ol' Geno had one of those. My only concern, really. |

If we could scrabble up the last 5 drafts and I had to pick a top 5 knowing what I know now...
Damn. Off the top of my head: 1. Colin Kaepernick 2. Russel Wilson 3. Andrew Luck 4. RGIII 5. Matt Ryan I know, I know. I honestly would take Kaep and Wilson over Luck. I saw great things out of Luck this year but he wasn't on their level...especially in the postseason. Holy shit. I've never been so impressed with two young QB's in my life. I honestly have both in my 2013 top 5 and I don't care if anyone wants to laugh at that. |
Ah shit. I'd probably take Ryan over RGIII with this knee injury/health concerns. But that's close.
I think there is a VERY, VERY, VERY large gap between 1-3 and 4. |
It's just amazing that we, THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS, with Matt Cassel at the helm...passed on Kaepernick NEARLY twice and Wilson THREE times...but drafted Ricky Stanzi.
hahaha |
next time I hear a "player X would be a top 5 pick if he was 3" taller" I'm going to blow my brains out. We heard that same shit with Flowers and his 40 time (and even height if I recall)...

For some reason it took Scott Pioli four seasons to realize Matt Cassel wasn't a legit option for this franchise. I assume it's because Matt was his buddy, and Scott is too much of an insecure dumbass to "trust" his team to just anybody he doesn't know. Think about this for a second. Scott gave Cassel a freebie year in 2009. Then 2010 happened and Scott assumed that life was great in Chiefs land. Then there are all the reports that none of the coaches thought Matt was any good. He gets rid of them all one way or another and KEEPS Matt. And not only does he keep him around, but he drafts ZERO competition apart from one 5th rounder. Now, we're to assume that Scott would have drafted at least ONE QB in this draft if he were still GM, but even then we can't guarantee it'd be a very high pick. And most likely we'd be looking at another year of Cassel while that QB sits on the bench. I'll bet Scott didn't pass on all those QBs because he thought they weren't good enough. I'll bet he passed on them because he genuinely believed that he had his franchise QB, and teams with franchise QBs don't actively pursue good QBs in the draft. |
It's amazing how Scott Pioli talked about how character and pro style experience and leadership were so critical but yet Russell Wilson, the QB who looked great in two pro style offenses, showed excellent leadership and had outstanding interviews at the Senior Bowl was passed up because shithead Pioli had tunnel vision for a Tom Brady clone.
I don't think we even had Wilson in for a pre-draft visit LMAO |
@evansilva: Offseason QB predictions: AZ - Glennon BUF - Nassib CLE - Mallett JAX - Geno KC - Alex Smith NYJ - Flynn PHI - Vick (pay cut). Cassel to NE.
