I had reason to think he could have and should have been our starting QB, and that he's better for morale and the franchise than Cassel. At least Stanzi is a young QB who would have struggled but had the potential to grow. Matt served us the same ****ing shit sandwich that he's always delivered as a Chief. It has never ****ing changed, and it never will. Thankfully this will be his last year, though. Even when we do draft Geno Smith, it's Cassel and Quinn who need to be the ones to get their asses out the ****ing door, not Stanzi. Keep Stanzi, sign a veteran, draft Geno. That needs to be our QB corps. And with that, I'm done talking about Stanzi until Cassel and Quinn both get their asses benched for shitty play. Trust in Geno. |

Andrew Luck was, in my opinion, the best QB prospect since Peyton Manning. Geno Smith is nowhere NEAR Luck. Let's not get crazy here. From a mental ability to run an NFL offense, Luck was as surefire as they come. |

If Smith is the guy, trade away the entire draft to get him; it simply doesn't matter, and last year's abysmal draft is evidence of this. |

Which is why it's pointless to even argue if surefire makes a difference when comparing any two QBs. One QB is better than the other. One QB has elite skills, the other might as well. The other might not. Geno Smith has an elite arm. He's got an Andrew Luck arm. He's also got Luck's poise in the pocket and ability to avoid the pass rush. Geno also has the ability to scramble if he needs to. though I don't think he's as fast as Luck or RGIII at doing that. For our purposes, Geno Smith would be the best scrambling QB we've had in a LONG time. That's good enough for me. Your questions about him keep going back to the system and offense he plays in, but in those regards he's not all that much different from RGIII. They weren't the same offense between the two QBs, but it wasn't pro style, which is all that seems to matter to you. Luck had the pro style offense, and a QBs coach/head coach with a proven track record. That's why Luck is more attractive to you. That's fine. But surely that doesn't put Geno Smith that far down the list, does it? Cam Newton and RGIII have both come from non-pro style systems and have both made the transition brilliantly. Surely a guy like Geno Smith with the perfect attitude, work ethic, leadership qualities, and smarts should be able to do what those two were able to do. |
I agree that the primary difference between Luck and Smith is that Luck operates out of a pro-style offense. They are otherwise very similar. Both are extremely strong-armed and accurate pocket passers with excellent mobility. Both are great leaders, film-room junkies and team-first players. Both are capable of reading a defense and moving through progressions. But Luck did play in a pro-style offense that he controlled at the line that also included a rushing attack. Just remember, west virginia doesn't have a rushing attack. They are very comparable players.
|
Will someone please show me Smith going through a progression? I've yet to see it in a single play and I've watch all the video of Smith I can find.

WVU Oline is good.
Love Smith's precision on his long throws. |
That was helmet to helmet.
Or not. |

When I talk about "field vision" in earlier posts, I am talking about a guy that is seeing the entire field. He was making reads. For instance, that (what was it?) 45 yard TD pass to Stedman Bailey in the Baylor game. He saw the coverage at the snap and knew that the safeties wouldn't be able to get there to make a play if Bailey beat the corner. He didn't look in Bailey's direction until he was ready to make that throw. He read that just after the snap, and came back to it. That is a great read, and great anticipation. |
WV will never fall apart with Smith as their leader. He will just out score any defensive deficiencies which they clearly have.

Texas is playing with a high amount of energy it's taking all they have to derail Geno Smith but it's working. There getting to him fast.
|
even eddie george is sold. Draft him.
|
Texas was gassed by the end of the half. I don't think their defense can keep this pace up.
|
poor geno, his defense is soooo bad.

That was another sexy Geno TD pass

Geno makes NFL throws.
Dude has made four awesome 4th down throws tonight. All for conversions. If any of you are wondering if he's a clutch type of QB, the answer is yes |
ANOTHER strike.
Dude makes so many of these every game it's like they're not even that impressive anymore. |
And theres #4. BEAST
|
I want this ****ing quarterback to wear chiefs red and gold next year.
|
oh, I talked up Geno last week too, not sure why I'm not on the list in the OP. sign me up.
|
Now if we could only find a defense.
|
It's destiny. We've missed out on qb after qb. Now this guy comes along.
Destiny |
Yea, I'm not sure how much dick-slobbering it takes to make the list, but surely I have passed the threshold.
|
Geno looks good for a Vince Young dumbass QB!
|
Put me on that list, SNR.

After this game is over, I'm going to edit the OP and not allow any more people on.
Don't worry, I'll go back many pages to find a bunch of people I missed. I'll get you all on. |
Anyone that doesn't think Smith could lead us to the playoffs next year is not watching this game. Or any of them so far this season.

The Texas D has been up and down all year but has a SHIT LOAD of talent. This has been Geno's first real test and he has looked pretty damn good considering.
Best thing for the Chiefs will be a Texas win here and some more West Va losses down the stretch to keep Smith's value from going off the charts. |
