Never actually ran the 40, but I suspect that my "chicken for strength, waffles for speed" plan was flawed.

Hootie 03-03-2011 01:51 PM

Pretty sure the 1000 was bench, squats and cleans...if you didn't hit 300 on bench you weren't making the 1000 lb. Club...

I don't think don beebe could break a 4.4 in his prime and we have guys on cp breaking a 4.3...whatever. my point is...kust because your high school coach timed your 35 at 4.5 doesn't mean you were actually that fast.

Not at my high school.

Bench, squat, deadlift. Most guys that made the club did 250 bench, 350 squat and 450 deadlift.

Although my friend that hit the club in '82 did it with a 335 bench.

Yeah, you're right. Me or any of the other guys here could have been faster.

The error you refer to could work both ways.

Still have wicked work strength, not many folks can climb 2-3 flights of stairs carrying a 65lb box of CGC plaster in both hands 10-15 times consecutivly, THEN start work for the day.

damn dude...you ever use stilts for your ceiling work? bet that's comfortable.

And I guess everyone who wants to bash me forgets three pages ago some southpaw had scouts "begging him" to come out for the draft with his 90 mph fastball but he didn't...you know...even though you remain amateur status in baseball regardless of whether or not you're drafted...but yeah...I'm sure you're all being 100% truthful! Its like an episode from always sunny when mac and charlie are reminiscing about high school and dennis is laughing because they were remembering things all wrong (as they were total losers)...I'm sure 1 or 2 people on this board might have had 4.5 speed at one point (maybe) but I know 35 of you didn't....

I was truthful.......shouldn't you always take it as the truth first?

Comments like this just prove that you're a hick from the sticks.

How many guys from your high school went on to play at the college or pro level in ANY sport?

Hootie 03-03-2011 01:58 PM

So you think your high school coach is clocking you at 45 yards not 35? Lololol...use a little common sense dane. Again...its the same thing as being listed as 6'5" in bball when you're really 6'2"...or 250 lbs when you're 220

Those #s look about right for making the 1000 club. You don't have to bench 300 to make it. I had guys in HS that had insane dead lifts.

Well, considering that the head coach of our school is one of the best high school coaches in the country, that same coach and school went to the 6A State Championship three years in a row (and won it once) and a huge number of guys went on to play at the college level (and one later became a D-I head coach), I'd say that our 40 times were pretty goddamned accurate.

Yeah, there were a few guys that had monstrous deadlifts but their bench was weak.

Lono 03-03-2011 02:04 PM

My HS 1000# club was bench, squat, and clean. Never made it but got close. My clean wasn't good enough. Ran a 4.66 twice in a row at my Culver Stockton recruit day. Signed, then didn't go. Got married out of hs and had two kids. Currently coach hs football. What Hootie is saying has a lot of truth. Not all coaches time right. I hear stories of kids running 4.4's all the time and laugh. There is two kids around here who can run a legit 4.4 and they both are running under 11.0 in the hundred. One was timed at TCU this summer and all other kids saying that I laugh at and tell them no way. By the way 1 of those two kids are white.

P.S. I threw 71 at my nephews bday party at the batting cages a couple months ago. My arm hurt for days. I just knew i could throw harder than that.
