Some Maz Kanata rumor. Her part in the film is even smaller in TLJ but she plays a critical part:

Maz apparently introduces the Resistance to DJ. She helps the Resistance by pointing them toward a “mysterious new ally”. Maz has been forced to become more mobile and take more of a role in the criminal underworld.

They have done a really good job of keeping Del Toro's character out of the mainstream discussion. I am legit curious as to who he is and what he is capable of.

He's a slicer (hacker). He's a mercenary in that world and works for the highest bidder, no matter if it's the Resistance or the First Order.

That makes him very interesting, IMO. No loyalty to anyone means that he could potentially swing the conflict towards either side with no skin in the game.

Awesome. Lucasfilm once again leaning on the EU. Timothy Zahn invented that term/occupation.

I wonder if he'll hack some First Order or Republic database and discover the truth about Kylo and/or Rey....or Snoke.

Meet BB-9E, the evil new 'Star Wars' droid that will be in 'The Last Jedi'.

When "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" hits theaters this December, the forces of the dark side will...

Remember the old Kenner brand Luke Skywalker with the slit in his wrist so a wispy-tipped (inexplicably yellow) lightsaber could slide out? We've come a long way. On Thursday, Hasbro reveals its lineup of new toys as the world celebrates Force Friday II.

Kylo Ren: What at first glance resembles a high-tech crypt for the First Order villain is actually a starter kit for Hasbro's Force Link feature. This wristband unlocks an array of phrases, sound effects, lights with 30 compatible figures, accessories, vehicles, and playsets.

Elite Praetorian Guard: This 3.75-inch figure is one of the crimson-armored bodyguards for Supreme Leader Snoke.

General Hux: The First Order fascist (played by Domhnall Gleeson) is still threatening to rule the galaxy with the clenched fist of his brand of freedom — but now he has a sidekick, the MSE-6 (or mouse droid.)

TIE Silencer: Among the new vehicles is Kylo Ren's personal starfighter, the fang-winged TIE Silencer. It includes the villain in flight outfit.

Canto Bight Police Speeder: These security vehicles look like something our police would throw into a road to burst a bad guy's tires. This vehicle includes an officer from the galactic casino.

A-wing Fighter: We saw the A-wing fighters in the original trilogy, but here's a new variation for a different generation. It includes the Resistance pilot named Tallie. (First name, last name? That's unclear.).

Ski Speeder: Poe Dameron trades his X-wing for this significantly less stable fighter, which was seen in The Last Jedi trailer stirring up a plume of red mineral as it skims the surface of the planet Crait.

Kylo Ren: Those seeking just the scarfaced dark-sider can get this figure, complete with crossguard lightsaber.

12-inch Kylo Ren: The villain comes in much larger form with this foot-tall, interactive figurine, which includes than 65 light and sound effects — including a lightsaber that glows Sith red.

Plush Porg: Before we get to the Black Series figures, let's just stop and hug this soft Porg. It's battery operated to waddle, flap its wings, and chirp and coo.

Star Wars': BB-8's Evil Twin Represents a Moment of Genius: BB-9E is the droid you're looking for.

Forget Phasma, Snoke or even Rose Tico — the Force Friday II rollout has already revealed who the biggest breakout star of December's Star Wars: The Last Jedi is going to be, and it's BB-8 gone bad … Well, almost.

BB-9E, a First Order astromech droid that looks like a particularly goth BB-8 — all-black paint job, with a more severe flat head in comparison to the bubbly BB-8 — has been unveiled by Sphero, the company behind the popular app-controlled BB-8 toy beloved by fans around the release of The Force Awakens in 2015. Although it is, in essence, little more than a repaint of the existing BB-8 — even the body markings are identical, albeit silver instead of BB-8's orange; only the head is different — BB-9E represents a moment of genius in the character creation department.

What is better, after all, than the evil twin trope? It offers fans the chance to see an alternate side to their beloved favorites, without having to taint them with permanent "problematic"-ness; it teases the allure of the "bad boy"/"bad girl" without committing to forever doom the lovable and heroic nature that fans responded to originally, and it can suggest a darker nature to the character themselves through implication — if Evil Twin feels this way, isn't there a chance that there's something in Character X that feels it, too? — without actually having to sacrifice anything noble in the source character themselves. It's a win/win option for fans and creators in offering up a new look for a favorite character, and that's even before you get to the facial hair possibilities.

BB-8 is the ideal character to put through this process, as well — he (she? it?) was the first fan-favorite of the new cast of The Force Awakens, the one who broke out before the movie was released based on appearance and cute sound-effects alone. That's as it should be: BB-8 is almost unspeakably cute and lovable, as was necessary for the movie on both a textual (Rey needs to want to help the droid in order for the plot to progress) and subtextual (the audience needs to love the droid in order to have emotional buy-in to the movie and relaunch of the franchise as a whole) level. Which is what makes the prospect of an evil BB-8 so "wrong" that it's so, so right.

Taking a longer view, BB-9E fulfills a destiny for the movie's treatment of droids — that we get to spend some time with some "bad" ones on-screen, finally. For eight movies, we've seen droids that have been morally neutral to morally good, with occasionally glimpses of something darker, whether The Empire Strikes Back's bounty-hunter IG-88 or knowing that K-2SO in Rogue One was a reprogrammed Imperial Security Droid. But we've never actually had an evil movie droid, before now. In ancillary material, fans have already had this particular pleasure — Marvel's first Darth Vader series introduced psychopathic versions of C-3PO and R2-D2, memorably — making the debut of an evil droid on the big screen just a matter or time, and now, with BB-9E, it appears that we've finally hit that point.

BB-9E, then, is primed to be the Boba Fett of The Last Jedi — a character so inherently, implicitly cool from his appearance that fans will eagerly embrace him (her? it?) and spend years writing fanfic explaining that adoration in slavish, intricate detail. If there's one thing wrong with BB-9E (and I'm not saying that there is, I'm just making an observation), it's that the nickname for the character didn't make it into official canon.

I like the Interceptor style wings, I guess. The TIE Fighter is a great idiosyncratic design but almost every variation on it (with the exception of the aforementioned TIE Interceptor) is a mess.

It used to be the Rebels vs. the Empire. Now it's the First Order vs. the Resistance. One would think the Rebels would become stronger after defeating the Empire, yet, they're not.
Maybe a prequel film will explain this in 2059, after the highly successful Nien Nunb standalone prequel.
