Looks like VMart return to Detroit is imminent on a 4 year deal.

Looks like the Royals will be real players in the Tomas sweepstakes

So are 29 other teams

Martinez deal with Detroit is official. 4 years, $17 million/year.

Wow. Bats are damn pricey. Maybe the Royals best option is Tomas.

Vmart is going to be an albatross very soon.

ChiefsCountry 11-12-2014 04:43 PM

Teams are stupid giving huge money to aging players. Unless its somebody you really want to retire with your organization, don't pay big money to older players.

Especially when coming off (unsustainable?) career years that feature extreme outlier totals in HRs and SLG %.

It's either gonna be Tomas or Hunter in RF this year for the Royals

penbrook 11-12-2014 06:05 PM

Wade Davis finished 8th in the Cy Young voting and Holland 9th

According to McCullough, the Royals still think they are underdogs for Tomas, but they could be helped by the fact that Tomas prefers a shorter deal of only about 4 years, and most of the other clubs want more years in exchange for going out on a limb for someone who hasn't faced MLB pitching.

That's pretty decent. Relievers rarely win it. And they usually only do when it's a year without a dominant starting pitcher.
