More food for thought for the Guthrie haters.
He has allowed 4 or less earned runs in 16 of his 20 starts. Our record in those games? 12-4 But lets go ahead and DFA him. He clearly provides no value to us. Now, having said that and before I get labeled a Guthrie "knob slobber", I would like to see Medlen get a start in his place to see what he's got. |

I just saw the thing with Wilmer Flores. **** the Mets for doing that to that kid. Being 23 years old and finding out in the middle of the game that you're being uprooted and traded to a new city away from your friends, family, and home is a tough situation, and it's emotional for a lot of guys. Leaving him in the game to have to wear that emotion on his sleeve is totally ****ed up.

Medlen's better than Guthrie. I'm firmly on the Medlen bandwagon, but I don't think they're going to do anything to jeopardize the future. They are counting on him to be in the rotation next year.

It's stupid just even from a baseball perspective. You're trying to win a division title and you run a guy out there who's upset because he just got traded. Not to mention risking injury. Smart move. Mets gonna Mets, I guess.

With Cueto, Volquez, Duffy, and Ventura we don't need Medlen this year. If one if them gets hurt we should pitch him over Young or JGuts in the postseason.

Terry Collins, Mets manager just now on the Wilmer Flores thing, "Until someone comes in the dugout and says a trade has happened...son, you're the shortstop. Maybe this will help him in the future. Sometimes trades happen. Until someone tells me he's traded, he's gonna play. I told Bob to go figure out what was wrong with him and we've gotta calm him down. I don't know what to tell you."

Well they didn't give up Gallo, but they gave up the rest of their farm system it sounds like.

Mets trade with Milwaukee is off.
