Alex is gone regardless.

The Chiefs and no one else can guarantee this years Alex will be back next year or the previous 10 years of Alex will return. It's a huge gamble when you have a QOTF sitting on the bench.

We need to get some help on defense. We get a #15-20 pick in the draft for him we can get a top shelf LB or CB that we desperately need.

I don't think Gigabytes would go to Cleveland. Any lingering interest to keep playing would be squashed, if this were the only option.

.. and there was pre-game chatter from announcers, kcc.. about Andy's conversation. It was weeks ago, and was to Jon Gruden, iirc. The relayed quote was something along the lines of Andy saying, "Alex is my guy, and he can be with me until I retire."

.. but that doesn't necessarily have to translate into "I want him as my starting QB forever!" Could be he just wants to instantly hire Alex as a coordinator, when Smith hangs em up.

They're gonna have to trade him for cap reasons and to start the rebuild. Get what you can

crayzkirk 10-24-2017 09:59 AM

I voted a 2nd, however I don't see the Clarks letting him go. I can see how in some bizzaro world trade that he ends up on the Donkeys and rides that defense to the Super Bowl.

I still wonder what this team would look like THIS year if we had the 1st round pick from this year, the two 2nds from when Alex was acquired, the tampering picks, etc. etc. etc. I understand that the management sees Mahomes as a generational talent and yet me, the skeptical fan, that has watched the Chiefs make moves that get them really close is wondering what pieces are going to be missing that hold us back once the savior of the franchise starts.

I'm from Missouri... SHOW ME!

DJ and Tamba alone should give us $10 million in space. Think they also need to consider restructuring Allen Bailey and finding his replacement.

Parker should be looked at as well, IMO.

QB's are extremely valuable so I went 1st rounder & some extra picks. If Alex had a few years left on his contract his value would be 2 first rounders.

RunKC 10-24-2017 11:09 AM

Skins (especially if they lose Cousins)
Jags
Browns
Vikings
Cardinals

All those teams have more than $30 million in the bank for next year before cuts. They can easily take on Alex's cap number.

Can you spell Shannahan???

Mike Shanahan is the only coach to bring a Super Bowl title to the Mile High City, but as the gleam of the two Lombardi Trophies he won faded and playoff trips became more rare, Shanahan went from "Coach for Life" for the Broncos, to just another to be handed a pink slip.
