No, but it does highlight a lack of discipline. And with him coming into the combine fat and out of shape, it's like a guy showing up for the job interview of a lifetime being hungover, his fly down and teeth not brushed.

Kendricks tested well, wouldn't be upset with him in the 2nd

Ehhh...

Bad bench, very, very short arms (31" at a 6'0" height), only ran a 4.61 (Houston ran a 4.68 at 270 lbs.)...

Combine with a lack of impact plays in college...

No thanks.

If Kendricks fell to the second round, he would definitely be a great pick as well. Same with McKinney. One guy I don't like is Perryman. He takes FOREVER to read a play and get involved. That was what I saw anyway.

Lack of impact plays? Were we watching the same player?

Most of his tackles were past the line of scrimmage. He was in on a lot, but he struggles getting through/shedding blocks and is really not very good blitzing. He takes a while getting across the line. Doesn't seem to play downhill.

He's pretty much "meh."

Completely agree.

I dont want anything to do with that guy. He's all hype.

I don't know what games you are watching. He reads the plays well and has great breaks. He is pretty slow, so not great in man coverage. But he seems to meet runners in the gaps at the LOS. That is miles better than what we get now. Plus he is great at playing as a zone or a spy LB'er. He reads plays very well and has great instincts.

He doesn't fit in either a traditional 34 or Sutton's 425 sub-package.

He is very instinctive and that's helped him rack up a lot of tackles over the years, but he's not quick, doesn't take on blocks very well and is short with no reach.

And by impact plays, I mean plays that are game changers. Sacks, forced fumbles, etc. He had four sacks, zero QB hurries, one forced fumble and only two passes defended in 2014. Most of his tackles were past the los and he always seemed to have help on them.

I seriously do not want him for the Chiefs. I wouldn't take him as anything other than a UDFA.

So he's Donnie Edwards?

Nightfyre 02-22-2015 04:50 PM

He's a better tackler than Donnie Edwards, imo. Donnie Edwards mastered the grab and drag.

Man, I know he had a shitty day...

but Paul Dawson is a stud. Check out his tape against Ole Miss:

Vontaze Burfict is a potential comparison for somebody who sucked at the combine but on gameday finds a way to dominate. He also had potential character concerns.

Yes, if Paul Dawson is there in the 2nd for us, you have to pick him.
