TOMS RIVER, N.J. (AP) - Police have ticketed a New Jersey woman who was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross a highway.


Toms River police tell the Asbury Park Press (http://on.app.com/OgFDwL ) 37-year-old Crystal Scholz was not using the crosswalk when she stepped into traffic on Route 37 early Saturday.

A woman had told police she thought she had hit something.

Scholz sustained a laceration and swelling to her head.
