Thanks for posting Laz.

From Self's comments, I imagine Frankamp isn't going to get very many minutes.

What are the new handcheck and charge rules?

DanBecky 10-22-2013 12:32 PM

It's great that they have so much depth. Something we've kind of lacked in the past. Self has been pretty high on White. I'd love for him to see the floor, but with all the immense talent they have, idk if they will be productive minutes. I'm really interested in what Self's mindset is regarding the redshirt situation.

Frankamp is absolutely going to get minutes, as he can back up both Naadir and Selden. His shooting should not be underrated. And it's not like he is completely one dimensional, either.

The kid can dunk and has good speed with the ball. He has grown up learning how to create separation for his shot. He's tenacious and angry and a complete killer.

He's White Mamba.

Oh, and the new handcheck rule on the perimeter only makes Frankamp MORE of a viable guard, since bigger guys can't arm bar him. He's going to wreak ****ing havoc with his pull up 3, which is a thing of ****ing beauty.

On a team with Jahlil Okafor, Jabari Parker, Tyus Jones, Stanley Johnson, Dakari Johnson, and Justise Winslow...

Conner Frankamp was the leading scorer.

I hope so. I've wanted for a long time to get a pure shooter on the floor. The closest we got was Reed.

Someone is going to have to sit. There is a ****load of good players on the team. I always thought AWIII was the odd man out, but Self said he's the first guy off the bench right now.

So what are the new rules?

Mr. Plow 10-22-2013 02:31 PM

Frankamp is likely a minimum 3 year player. Unless he blows everyone in front of him away, he's got time to adjust & learn the system without the pressure of having to produce a lot right now. Which is good for KU to have a shooter like him around for 3/4 years.

Kansas coach Bill Self just said Marcus Smart is best competitor he may have ever coached against. Wow.
Guess that really isn't a surprise.

Prison Bitch 10-22-2013 03:08 PM

Self recruited Smart about as much as anyone he's recruited. Just the ultimate Bill Self player. Loves that guy, so this isn't surprising.

Totally. And as much as I should hate him for the back flip, I ****ing love watching Smart. I think the guy is just kick ass and would have him on my team ANY day of the week

The new rules are that you can't keep your hand on a player when he is dribbling/driving. You cannot put two hands on him.

You cannot repeatedly "jab" him.

It is basically to keep the guards to be able to drive the ball unimpeded.

Additionally, you can no longer slide into position to take a charge after the offensive player has begun his upward movement to the basket. LAst year, you could slide into position before he left his feet. Now, once the guy picks up his dribble, you have to be set.

Basically, Andrew Wiggins is going to drive the **** out of the ball into the paint.

Good luck, world.

ROFL

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know about the new rules. Glad to see you can't ride the **** out of guys driving the basket.

Buehler445 10-23-2013 10:31 AM

Wow. Good for BMac. I had forgotten just how pretty his shot is.

Ben was a better shooter than Reed. At least his equal.

He has so much bounce and released at the apex of his jump. It's just indefensible.

0:22 is the perfect example. Jumps to catch the pass, lands with his feet square and completely on balance, then is immediately straight up in the air again.

Ben was a better shooter than Reed. Of this, I'm sure.

But he's not as good as Frankamp, per Bill Self.
