If I remember right, he wasn't on our initial 53-man roster. We shuffled the roster after the final cuts and signed him. Granted, it was about 12 minutes after the final 53 roster was set, but I suspect that may be the reason. cdcox may have another theory.

If that's the case, then he wasn't on anyone's final 53 since the 49ers cut him. That means he'll come available in the second round of free agency after the NFL season.
