Things that may not be clear in the books can still be made more clear on tv, if the producers decide to go that route. I don't think that comment really gave anything away at all. But this is probably the kind of discussion that might be better to table for a week until we see how the show handles the aftermatch of the assassination. I have no idea how it's going to play out (which is great, speaking as a reader...).

Just so many book readers out there now that there is always a risk of someone going too far. Book readers need to be mindful of not mentioning anything in this thread that hasn't been on the show. Talking about what will happen or what has or has not been confirmed in the books can often result in unintentional spoilers.

I read the books but yeah that was a definite change I saw--they definitely left it up in the air on the show with the way they presented it.
