It's all about shiny objects. There is no quiet time between innings any more. It's all a marketing opportunity.

Also, why do we have to have just one song? Pick a bunch of them, and change it up. Going to a ballgame shouldn't be like going to mass. They should have some variety.

The Chiefs game day experience has this same problem. Same formula every week. Mix it up. Surprise us now and then.

I'm guessing they'll get her to do some sort of "We'll always be Royals" type remix to that song.

The odds of that have to be 115%. They'd probably be crazy if they didn't.

I endorse this idea. If we're going to have songs, lets have a few of them and rotate them. I know the appeal of sticking with one song is so the fans can learn it and really get into singing it, but as long as you have the words and the silly bouncing ball on the screen, I'm sure we can all manage.

Didn't they used to play Ring of Fire?

58-4ever 03-01-2014 08:56 AM

last time I checked, Vegas has the over/under on wins at 81.5. I can't tell if this is a pay your mortgage type bet or a trap.

Thats just not realistic, at all. Its clearly popular, and you are talking about a business that is interested in creating an atmosphere that encourages even the very casual fans to buy a few tickets, and this certainly helps with that. Or, at least the total absence of a sing-along song would be noticed.

People are buying tickets to a Royals game so they can sing Friends in Low Places?

ROFL

Yep. That's probably going to be the selection.

I can't wait until we win a World Series so that people stop caring about stupid crap like what music they play in the 6th freaking inning.

To me, it already feels like we won the World Series.

Laugh if you want, but its partially true, and the casual fans who are positively affected probably don't even know it. Just like some fans buy tickets partially for the Sheridan's frozen custard, partially for the kiddie playground, and oh yeah partially for this whole baseball game thing against the Chicago whosits too.

Its all part of the fan experience and all of them would probably say they are going to watch the game, but all this stuff costs money. Do you think these teams are stupid and blowing money on bells and whistles for nothing? If we all sat on benches and the PA announcer didn't say a word between innings, that shouldn't make a difference, we're all there for the game, right? Just get your hot dog and beer, sit down, and watch the game.
