You want some killer authentic mexican seafood? Jarocho is the place to go. I had the octopus in it's own ink, I've had the whole fried fish, Stuffed fish, langostines, etc. It's all fantastic. The original one is in KCK off 7th st and Shawnee ave. THe newer one is 131st and State Line.

Not really heard of the Crossroads before. May have to check the area out.

Crossroads is the spot. You can park at Union Station and ride the street car all the way through the Crossroads, downtown, and to the River Market and back. Plenty to see, do, eat, drink along the way. It's my go-to recommendation for all OOT visitors these days.

Nope. Chose the Jags game on 10/7. The Broncos game falls on boyfriend's birthday, but didn't want my dad to spend a bunch on tickets (he buys us tickets to a game besides his season tickets each year as a combined birthday present).

well damn - looks like I REALLY DO have to hang out with the X Factor.

October 6th should be first Saturday at the West Bottoms so there’s tons of antique shops open and there are various food trucks present as well.

There is a dinosaur exhibit at Union Station. So combining that with walking around Crown Center can be a good way to Siena some time.

Does anybody else really like the new menu at Denny's? I've got to say, I would go there regularly if there was one near me.

The ever-evolving thread. Still not looking for BBQ, so it's still usable. Please see OP for new question...lol.

What would a tire company know about chefs?

Michael Smith - the Kansas City restaurant guy - did not receive a Michelin Star. Maybe you're thinking of James Beard award winner.

I didn't see anything about one whenever I was reading his bio. I did see plenty about the James Beard award. He googles everything on his phone, so I'm thinking maybe he was reading through several and got his info confused. Thanks for pointing that out.

Bumped this thread to ask something similar. I thought about a brewery tour, but meh. I've done it and one in St. Louis. Once you've been on one brewery tour, I think you've pretty much seen what there is to be seen regarding making beer.

Don't go on a tour. Just go to each brewery and get smashed. In the Crossroads area there are quite a few within walking distance of each other.

Double Shift (my personal favorite of that area)
Casual Animal
Border
Torn Label
Brewery Emperial

If you're into beer just park in the Crossroads. You can now walk to about 8 breweries and distilleries from there.

Casual Animal, Border, Double-Shift, Torn Label, iTap, Brewery Imperial, Tom's Town, Lifted Spirits, etc.

Whoops. My bad.

I don't think any KC restaurant has earned a Michelin star.

False,

I have been on hundreds of brewery tours, over the years, all over the country. The trick is to not only have the tour presented by the Brewmaster but to be knowledgeable or go with a brewmaster or brewmaster wannabe. If you can actually get a tour these days from a BM who doesn't think of tours as the worst part of his job you can learn a lot. Most of the time it's an asst. who thinks you know jack shit.

I never received a tour at Flat Branch (Springfield) but Larry taught me a lot about beer, both behind the glass and in in the brewery, on many trips I took between St Louis and KC. His Vanilla Bean Ale mixed with Oil Change Oatmeal Stout is still one of the few beers I mix together when they are available.

You just have to look past the fact that he is an avid Steelers fan.
