Nice guitar Splat. How does it sound through an amp?

I haven't played a guitar of any brand that was setup correctly from the factory since the 70's.

The finishing is the most time consuming aspect and companies are only concerned with the bottom line. Fortunately, I have an amazing luthier to cut bone nuts and dress frets because regardless of the brand, they're unplayable out of the box which makes them unrecordable as well.

It sounds really great. They have their own preamp and it sounds like a much more expensive one. Even has an adjustable midrange control. You can dial in a pretty natural tone. And it has a nice tuner that responds really well.

This is absolutely true. I am pretty experienced setting up electric guitars and basses, I own a lot of them and do everything but fretwork myself. But sanding a bridge saddle sucks....

There is at least one exception though. Lakland basses, even the Indonesian ones, are pleked at the Lakland factory and come setup very well. You may have to tweak the truss rod a little from the temp and humidity changes since it left the factory, but that is really all you need to do.

Come to find out, he had written the theme to "Bonanza". After the show, I went to the stage and began talking to the band. I mentioned that I really liked the Bass and his player says "Here - try it out"..I was hooked after that. Been playing ever since. I have went through (seems like) hundreds of rigs since them, but there are what I play now.

I tried to upload a pic - but no luck

62RI Fender Precision
75RI Fender Jazz
57RI Precision
2001 Rickenbacker 4003
2004 Rickenbacker 4003
2012 Fender FSR Antigua Precision

2010 Ampeg Heritage 8x10 Cab and Heritage SVT Head
1970 Acoustic 370/371
2008 Ampeg 8x10 Cab
2006 Ampeg 6X10 Cab
2009 Markbass CMD121P w/extension cab
2003 Ampeg SVT4 Pro

That's what I currently use - but I haven't played steadily in a couple of years.

nice list.

I have a 62 AVRI P as well. Fantastic instrument. I bet that Heritage rig does it some real justice, too.

Cool. Nice bass. I don't know that I would put it that close to the fireplace though.

Not a functioning fire place or I would find a different spot for it.
Got my Deuce bridge setup with some new synthetic gut strings. I'll post up some pics later.

Just picked up an early 70s Kay SG bass copy. It's pre lawsuit, and looks amazing...won't stay in tune for shit, so I'm going to try and get some original SG bass tuners, the Kay tuners are crapola.

Did I show this one already? I don't remember. A Wing Bass. Bought it for travel, also use it while sitting watching TV. Black Limba, Hipshot headless system. It uses regular gauge bass strings, and is essentially like a 34" scale bass with the neck cut off at the 12 fret. Easy to sit and play even in a La-Z-Boy. A practice bass that also sounds pretty good with an octave pedal to give you back the lower octave.
