dang. they all seemed to be moving pretty calmly; I'm assuming by that point the shootout was over etc?

This is the type of shit that just makes you wanna stay home. I know it's a rare, isolated incident, but you never know when some shit is gonna happen in your own town. It's crazy to live your life based on fear of a rare horrific event occuring, but think of all the people that were planning on going to that movie at that theater but ended up not going for whatever reason.

That's what it looks like to me.

I really don't either, but I hate the thought of only criminals having them. If there was an outlaw on all guns (like some people think there should be), the bad people in the world would still have ways of getting them.

I just wonder what must have happened to create this monster....

I have read a lot of info on serial killers and how they are created, but I don't know a lot about this type of killer.

For the record I'm all for it but I don't see how it could have helped at all. Not one bit.

- Would it have stopped the evil person from attempting this?
I don't think so. No.

- Could they have stopped the killer from doing all the damage he did?
No. The guy whet in a dark movie theater, threw tear gas in and started firing. Everybody is looking at the screen. I'm sure it was mass ciaos as it ensued. Had someone pulled out their gun to try to stop this I think there's a very solid chance even more would have been injured or killed.

It's just a sad situation that unfortunately is unavoidable from time to time.

The more I read about this the more I’m agreeing.
Apparently the guy was standing with his back to a closed Exit door?

I don't think the majority of those people knew what exactly was going on. They were evacuating the entire theater. At one point, near the end of the video, one of the guys (maybe a employee) yells out "shots in theater 9" and then people start picking up the pace. It's hard to tell.

If you are standing outside of a theater where people are coming out all shot up and telling you there is a lunatic inside shooting people, how the hell do you not get the hell out of Dodge? I think I'll stand right outside the theater entrance with my bullet proof camera phone in case something interesting happens!

Last night I was bitching to my brother about how there were 10 screens showing TDKR, and all were sold out. My brother heard this news this morning and told me "The guy was probably pissed off like you were about the movie being sold out or something". Might turn out to be the case, but I doubt it. He probably just thought of a crowded place where it would be easy to raise hell like this. A dark sold out movie theater after midnight is the perfect opportunity to create mass chaos and possibly even get away with it.

I was thinking more about what happened to this nut when he was a baby, growing up, etc.

Something very bad had to happen to create this monster.

Yes, because everyone being strapped is the solution to gun violence.

See QS's post before yours. I think it's one of those things where most of the onlookers aren't really seeing the urgency of the situation because they aren't experiencing it firsthand. The guy filming doesn't even notice that a guy came out all bloody until his friend says, "Yeah, man. Did you see. That guy had been shot, there was blood on him" or something.

I think about the WTC building collapse. People around the structures likely never realized how much danger they were in until the buildings actually started coming down.

Yeah but so are the "we need more people with guns" people.
