Assuming we're a 1 or 2 seed, we'll play a scrub in the first round, a team ranked around 30th in the second round, and nothing better than about the 15th best team in the third round. That's if everything holds to form, and it rarely does.

There's nothing tougher than what we did this week until you get to the Final Four, and there's almost always a Cinderella plus another team that is good but far from great.

Look at what Kansas did last year. They played a 16 seed, a 9 seed, a 12 seed, and an 11 seed. How in the **** did that team not make the Final Four?

I swear to God that I believe that Self would be getting a ton of heat from Kansas fans if Davidson had beat them in 2007.

Well obviously he would.

KU always runs into some mid major that shoots the ball well, KU tightens the old sphincter up and has to choke it out.

Dixon seems to be the match that has set the scoring on fire in several games. He did it again today when Moore picked them up in the 2nd half

Maybe. That's where we really miss Bowers.

But honestly, I wonder if him being out has helped us. (He'll be back next season) There's a ton of talk about how this 4 guard line up is tough to match up with.

The toughest thing about the 4 guards is that MU is so good at making you play their way.

If MU was made to play a slow half court game against a big team they would struggle. With the four guards they are just so good at speeding teams guards up and harassing them.

You said it better than I did.

You could very well be right, and I hope you are. They need that #1 seed badly as the road will be much easier. Anything can happen, but regardless this team has impressed this year.

I keep thinking that being a 2 seed in the Saint Louis region would beat a 1 seed out West, but I don't know. I wouldn't want to be the 2 seed if it meant being in Kentucky's bracket. If we were the 2 in a bracket with Duke or Ohio State or someone like that as the 1 seed, I'd probably take it if it meant playing in Saint Louis.

What hurts KU in the tournament is that they never have a guy who can just sit out at the three point line and make shots.

They always have great bigs and good slashing and passing guards, but in the tourney they play teams who are usually less talented and pack in the lane trying to shut down the high low. Once that happens they are always missing a guy who can just catch and shoot.

And when they have had that guy he usually misses.

That's what I'm afraid of.

I think Kentucky has the midwest 1 basically locked up barring a total collapse. Syracuse in the East as well.

The 1 in the west will likely get the best 2 seed, which could be tOSU or possibly NC.

I would rather be a #2 in Kentucky's bracket than be any number in a bracket with Duke. I think we can nullify Davis from UK with our guards and ability to hit from the outside. I think Duke matches up with us very, very well and would be a much tougher game. I agree though that playing in STL would be huge.

O.city 02-11-2012 11:25 PM

I don't think MU can match up with Kentucky at all. I don't really think anyone can on a neutral floor though.

I think Duke and Mizzou play the same style, and we play it better than they do. I also think we match up pretty well with Kentucky with our ability to spread the court and score from outside.

We don't match up player for player, but our style could give them fits.

O.city 02-11-2012 11:30 PM

It could, but UK could also go into a shoot till they make it. They are just so big and athletic.

I'm kinda leaning more toward Davis as POY in that he changes the game so much. Against MU he would have the ability to really slow Ratliffe with his length.

If MU spread them out and shot it well they could beat them. I think Kentucky would just try and run you guys off the 3 point line right to Davis.

KcMizzou 02-11-2012 11:30 PM

On paper, Mizzou vs. Baylor is a terrible match-up too.
