The "holy shit" chants followed by Lesnar kicking Cena's craptacular cap out of the ring was like the cherry on top.

That was about 15 minutes worth of crap in the 9 o'clock hour from being one of the best Raw's ever. Has to be one of the best in years.

Hopefully they don't **** it all up next week.

Not to take away from that awesome Raw, but if there's any Royals fans in here, Hosmer's apparently one of us.

Wrestlemania and raw would've been sooo sick to go to if I was back home.

Same here. Can't wait to see where they go with Lesnar, Cena, Rock, Punk, Jericho, etc. I know they need to start building new stars, and I think they will, but that's quite a bit of star power, even if some of it is temporary.

Honestly, just watch it. Should be up on youtube soon if it already isn't!

E: On a side note, Brock Lesnar originally made his debut on a Raw after Wrestlemania 10 years ago.

Quote:

In the dark match 6 man, Daniel Bryan received a reaction coming out equal to that of the Rock and just below Brock Lesnar. Show, Orton and Sheamus were just cracking up laughing. Every time Bryan tagged out, everyone was yelling "We want Bryan" literally the second he tagged out. Every time he kicked or punch, it was a Yes. Every time the faces did a move, it elicited a No chant. When Sheamus pinned Bryan, he was roundly booed (he was booed earlier on too).

- Bryan did a great promo to close the show, pretty much a babyface promo. He said last night was the worst moment of his career, but that tonight was one of the best. He asked AJ what she thought of everything, and as she meekly went to speak, he pulled the mic away, told her to shut up and go to back, which for a big pop and everyone laughed. He thanked all the fans tonight and at WM28 for chanting Yes and supporting him. He said the chants have convinced the people on charge to create a new t-shirt for him (presumably with Yes on it). He then said he had one thing left to say, and asked everyone to join in saying it - "Yes! Yes! Yes!" He also said, "You guys better buy the t-shirt!" which was funny.

Advertising hit Chicago today for Extreme Rules on 4/29. Surprisingly, the main event they were pushing was C.M. Punk vs. John Cena, not Mark Henry or Chris Jericho, in the WWE title match. Unless I'm misreading spoilers, Danielson was not involved in the world title match at all, and it ended with Del Rio winning by DQ, so that means rematch.

Meanwhile, Danielson apparently talked, didn't wrestle at all, and broke up with AJ.

Not looking promising.

okcchief 04-03-2012 09:09 PM

I used to watch wrestling a lot back in the day. I was mainly an ECW guy, but also like WWF when it was rolling. I probably stopped watching around 2006 or 2007.

It sounds like they are still making the same mistakes. This Danielson guy sounds like he's over and they are burying him. They used to be smart enough to listen.

It seems to me the less Shane got involved and the more Stephanie got involved the more it sucked.

Sounds like they had a good couple of shows, but I doubt they follow through.

After they ****ed up the ECW relaunch I was pretty much done. I would love them to have a product entertaining enough to watch again, but I'm not holding my breathe.

This reads a little better:
Quote:

- Daniel Bryan and AJ came out to a big pop and the yes chants. He said it sounded like the crowd was mocking him, and everyone went NO! NO! NO! in a funny moment. He called the people sheep, and then they chanted 18 SECONDS! He went on to blame AJ for losing at Mania... dressing her down, saying he wouldn't let her ruin his life like that again. He said when he will cash in his rematch clause, it will be by himself without the dead weight... he then dumped her, yelling at her to get out of his ring. Crowd did the goodbye song at AJ and then continued with the YES! chants as Bryan went to the back.
They might be taking him out of the picture until after Extreme Rules since it's in Chicago, and that crowd's liable to be closer to last night's miami crowd than a normal wwe crowd.

This show has been just as bad as I expected.

The opening of the show just killed me. Bring out Johnny and tie him to Brock. Bring out Brock so Cena will get cheered. Think it backfired, though, in that Brock made him look like a bitch in the scuffle and pull-apart. But for the 10984734298652367th time this is apparently all about getting Cena cheered. It's like they can't grasp the simple idea that people will tune in (and pay) to see Cena get his ass kicked.

The 3 Stooges stuff has been even worse than I thought it would be. Oh god, fake Hogan.

The Punk/Jericho stuff was great about 10 minutes into it when Jericho showed up on the tron, but Punk talked for way, way, way too long leading up to that. I say that as a big Punk fan. The rest was great, though.

Agreed. I'm getting so tired of this. He's the same stupid cornball character (see handshake attempt last week) as he's always been. Said last week he wanted to congratulate The Rock, then takes shots at him this week. Almost no character (or in-ring, for that matter) development in what, 6 years as THE guy?

**** it, I'll be back next week. I know it. But for now, I'm watching Royals-A's.

EDIT: And I know everyone marks out for Otunga & the coffee flask, but I think he's hot barney anus garbage.

keg in kc 04-09-2012 09:06 PM

I liked the run-in.

I hated Cena having to squash Otunga (who I also don't like) before it got to that point.

I'm actually okay with the angle they're taking here, of Lesnar just coming in to kick ass, and cut out all the skits and catch phrases, but Cena is just killing it (not in a good way). There's absolutely nothing babyface about Cena. He's a phony playing a character that caters to the children in the audience. No substance to him at all. They should start having him come out in Doink makeup.

I'm fine with the Lesnar angle, but it's a bit predictable thus far.

Cena-Otunga as the main event while Punk-Henry for the WWE Championship at 9:00 is a joke. Don't care what the story is or anything like that, especially considering that Punk's been on at 9:00 for the last 3 or 4 weeks (at least). Make it seem like the belt is important.

Good. It's not like there was some big excuse (MNF, college bball, etc.) why people didn't watch. The show just sucked. Except for that damn cool Punk-Jericho segment.

keg in kc 04-10-2012 06:35 PM

I thought the stuff with Brock pummeling Cena was good, and I thought the blood was good, too, because Cena refuses to sell anything, so seeing him physically bloodied makes it look real. I thought the very end with the low blow and the F5 was good, too. Lesnar's promo toward the end was good, too, for what it was. Cena smiling as he's getting his ass kicked, trying to be all badass to a guy who could legitimately destroy him (I like to hit and be hit - come on now), just comes off as a joke, and it's why I hate that character. Lesnar needs to completely destroy him at the PPV in Chicago, and then he needs to take Punk's title sometime after that (they can, however, help legitimize Punk in that feud if they do it right). This all needs to lead towards Lesnar having the title going into mania next year, and Rock somehow taking it from him. That's the money angle for next year. Or if it isn't, it should be.

I don't expect it to go that way of course, and I expect them to completely kill Lesnar by turning him into yet another cartoon character on the show, the way they already started to do by putting him in Johnny Ace's stable. Having him wrestle already at Extreme Rules is every bit as stupid as having Rock wrestle at Summerslam.

Everything in between was rubbish, except for the match part of Punk/Henry and Jericho afterwards. Punk talked for too long beforehand, and the crowd shit all over him, so that wasn't good in my eyes. Santino, the Stooges, every other skit on the show: exactly what's wrong with WWE and why people tune out. At least people above the age of 5, or people without little kids.
