It all depends how seriously you take his senior season play. If he came out as a junior in this draft class he would probably be the #1 QB. His throws from that year were terrific. Do you blame him or the situation he was in? Teams will have to figure that out as the draft gets closer

I am on the Wilson bandwagon. I like him the best and I think Reid will too. He's got a little mobility and Reid likes that. He can make all of the throws and reads. I think he will fit the best in Andy's offense. He's got a little Favre and McNabb in him imo.

Imon Yourside 01-16-2013 07:47 AM

I'll take Geno or Wilson..not really interested in taking any QB's other than these two.

Forget the questions about the situation THIS year.

Was the situation he was in LAST year about the team? Or was it about Bobby Petrino?

It's a legit question because the track record of Petrino QBs isn't good.

Me? I think it's kind of like Aaron Rodgers and Jeff Tedford. Tyler Wilson is about to break the "Bobby Petrino QB" mold.

I am with you. The guy lost three WRs to the draft and his HC. Look at how Dree Brees did without Sean Payton.

Wilson performing very well so far for the South squad per reports and yes Maunel/Jones struggling. North squad has the trio of Nassib, Glennon and Dysert... they are just starting their practice.

I agree, Wilson has medical flags but if he performs well he might vault ahead Geno.

Guess the word in Mobile is that some teams right now have Matt Barkley ranging anywhere from the 1st round to the 3rd round.

bsp4444 01-21-2013 02:47 PM

As we have two thirds (comp for Carr) how does packaging our first third and our second to move up to the 20-21 range and try to grab Wilson there?

The first third would be our actual third. The comp pick would be our second third. Thought we should take a second and first clear up which third was our first third and which was our second third, in case we wanted to move up and have a second first.

Now, go forth.

I don't know if 2 concussions in your career justifies medical flags. I love the toughness of Wilson. You will never see him go fetal position when the rush is coming. a.k.a. Matt Cassel.

Wilson will be #1 QB prospect if he is able to continue this up....

RunKC 01-21-2013 02:55 PM

On NFL Network right now they are saying that Tyler Wilson is taking snaps alongside EJ Manuel and he's easily better than him by a wide margin. Mechanics and accuracy are putting him ahead.

No way this guy is not a 1st round pick.

RunKC 01-21-2013 02:56 PM

Indeed it does, because a person is more susceptible to such an injury when it occurs especially during a 4 year span it's a big flag.

It's not that easy for offensive players that aren't RBs. The linemen don't have time to gel and the QBs and WRs don't have much time to develop timing. The defense is always ahead. QBs never dominate in these games.

Just for comparison's sake:

Russell Wilson - 10.25"
RG3 - 9.5"
Ryan Tannehill - 9"

I wouldn't say that, but I thought Geno's competitive spirit would've compelled him to play to silence his critics on ESPN. I'm disappointed in that aspect.

Mr. Laz 01-21-2013 04:51 PM

I could see Geno and Wilson both going in the top 4 tbh

KC
Jags
Faiders
Eagles

too many teams in top 5 that could want a QB .... especially if Kelly doesn't think Foles fits his scheme.

Either way I don't see Geno and/or Wilson making it past Buffalo at #8 unless Wilson's brain shows tendencies towards concussions ... then he could fall.

Didn't Wilson suffer 2 1/2 concussions in college? (the 1/2 being described as a 'injury above the shoulders' :spock: )

concussions are going to become a bigger and bigger part of the medical procession going forward imo.

I'm sure some will say that since he has small hands he can't throw in bad weather, like happens in KC. Which will be bs, as we don't exactly have snowstorm after snowstorm.

However, it is a concern.

That's a really bad comparison imo. Alex Smith isn't a scrambler, he strictly ran the spread, and he didn't play any decent talent. Comparing Tyler Wilson in college to Alex Smith in college is crazy imo. Also, Wilson is a confident gunslinger. Smith is a nervous guy who took years to trust his arm....even though he probably has a stronger arm than Wilson.

Also, this whole small hands thing is dumb imo. Who cares if he can throw the ball? Lorenzenlasted probably had the biggest hands ever and only lasted couple of years as a back up. He wasn't anywhere close to having the strongest arm and barely put zip on the ball.

The hands issue concerns how well he can throw the ball when it's slippery or hard to grip in shitty conditions.

ShowtimeSBMVP 01-21-2013 05:30 PM

The 2013 rookie quarterback class is wide open. Ask five NFL draft analysts for their favorite players in the class, and you might get five different answers. There have even been suggestions that no signal caller will get drafted in the first round.
Brooks: Hot Senior Bowl prospects
Bucky Brooks identifies 10 prospects to follow at the Senior Bowl, including a potential Jason Pierre-Paul clone. More ...

NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock advises against that logic.

"It's early in this entire process," Mayock said during NFL Network's Senior Bowl coverage. "Everyone says there's no Andrew Luck, there's no Robert Griffin III. ... I guarantee you by the time we get to April there will be three to four quarterbacks taken in the first round and most of them are coming out of this game."

Mayock's words are surprising, but they shouldn't be. Christian Ponder, Jake Locker, Ryan Tannehill and Brandon Weeden were all taken higher than analysts expected in April, much less in late January. Colin Kaepernick and Andy Dalton also almost rose to first round status, and were hardly viewed as surefire top picks early in the process.

The point here: Projections from draftniks at this stage of the process aren't worth much. The NFL's decision makers don't know where these guys will land, so we definitely don't know from the outside. And Mayock pointed out that the emphasis on the quarterback position will naturally make some of this year's promising crop go early.

Among those top Senior Bowl quarterbacks Mayock talked about were N.C. State's Mike Glennon, Arkansas' Tyler Wilson, Miami of Ohio's Zac Dysert, and Syracuse's Ryan Nassib.

It's hard to say who will get drafted first out of this group. But don't be surprised if most of them go in round one.

I think small hands hurt him, but I don't remember Wilson fumbling a lot when I watched him.

I know EJ Manuel fumbled like 8 or 9 times this year and he has huge hands.
Could be a legit concern for Wilson though.
