IMO, it was a cheap "Ha Ha - Gotcha" trick. I hated it and it ruined the movie.

I'm curious about those that don't like Salem's Lot. When did you first see it? I saw it first when it was originally on TV and loved it. It was a TV mini-series in the '70s so it hasn't aged well but I thought it stayed fairly true to the book and was done fairly well for its time.

BTW, I'm about four episodes into the new 'The Mist" series and it kinda sucks so far.

By itself, it may have been. But the short story ended so well, it was lame how they had to totally change it in the film.

The acting is God awful. None of the characters are memorable at all. I'll stick with it to the end because it's almost over but damn, movies and TV just can't get The Mist right. Better left on the pages.

I first saw it in the late 80's or early 90's so maybe that was a part of the problem. The character development in the book is so deep that I just felt some of that was missing from the show, especially Straker. I never did end up seeing the Rob Lowe remake on TV. I think at that time after IT and the 70's Salem's Lot, I had just kind of given up on King made for TV things. I gave Under the Dome a try a couple of years ago(Meh)and The Mist this year(a little less meh)so my giving up was warranted but I do want to find the Lowe edition since we've been posting on Salem's Lot the last few days.

Oh and how could I forget the dumpster fire that was Kingdom Hospital?

Under the dome... what a piece of crap.
I mean the book wasn't great but it was good until the ending.

I do have to say that Misery is a top 5 adaptation. Kathy Bates got an Oscar ffs. She was truly creepy. Great movie.

The Regulators was a damn good book. No way they could do a movie on it though.

Rose Red was another terrible one

Speaking of King adaptations, has anyone watched "Mr. Mercedes" yet? I have it recorded but haven't watched it yet. Haven't read the book yet either, so have no comparison.

Never read the book and based on what we all seem to concur on, I am skipping the show. Unless you say it's good after a few weeks.

Not complaining, but it sucks to see this at the top of the forum, and it not be about IT. Well, kind of complaining, but it's my problem to deal with, and I'm voicing it.

Carry on, fellas.

Haven't seen it. Watched the Mist. It is terrible.
